The band welcomes players of all ages. A standard of play of about Grade III/IV is a useful starting point, but formal qualifications are not as important as the willingness to join in, learn by playing, and enjoy making music with others. We currently have around 60 registered members and often 50 or more will be present at a rehearsal or engagement.
The band plays a wide variety of music, from marches to Mozart, Gershwin to gavottes and is always adding to its repertoire.






The conductor is Colin Ridgers. He received his formal musical training whilst serving with the bands of the 10th Royal Hussars, the 8th King's Royal Irish Hussars and, later, the REME Staff Band. On leaving service life he studied conducting with Bernard Keefe and Meredith Davies (orchestral), Lazlo Heltay (choral) and Roger Norrington (opera). Colin is also Musical Director of Sound Force.
